Madison Gesiotto recently wrote a piece entitled “A letter to President Obama: ‘Stop beating around the bush'” for the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law in which she could hardly contain herself.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, radical Islamic terrorism.

That’s right President Obama, radical Islamic terrorism has taken the lives of way too many Americans.”

Ms. Gesiotto, much like her counterparts who support this ridiculous narrative, somehow concluded that if President Obama were to to say “radical islamic terrorism” ISIS and/or similar groups or mindsets will miraculously disappear!  The sheer absurdity and stupidity of such statements does nothing other than being counter-productive to billions of Muslims worldwide and especially troubling to millions of law-abiding Muslim Americans.

First of all, if Ms. Madison actually “cares” about the taking of lives of “way too many Americans”, perhaps she should be yelling at the NRA!  According to the Gun Violence Archive (GVA), a nonprofit website that scours more than 1,200 sources to track gun deaths and injuries in the United States, there have been more than 50,000 incidents of gun violence in 2015.

Ms. Gesiotto would want us to believe these figures are somehow pointing to her magical ranting formula “radical islamic terrorism.”

Unfortunately, facts somehow don’t speak to ilks like her. The numbers include everything from homicides and multiple-victim gang assaults to incidents of self-defense and accidental shootings. The organization’s records show that more than 12,000 people have been killed with guns this year, but what its numbers do not record — due to government reporting practices — is a massive hole in the data: the nearly 20,000 Americans who end their lives with a gun each year. Nor does its already high injury tally capture the full extent of the victims who continue life with debilitating wounds and crushing medical bills. When the federal statistics for 2015 are released two years from now, the government’s models will show tens of thousands more gun-related injuries.

FACT 1: The image below shows that 24 Americans have been killed by terrorism in the last decade, while 280,024 Americans were killed by guns.

Does yelling “radical islamic terrorism” bring back those thousands of American lives?  No!

She further claims,

“Guns didn’t wake up and decide to kill our brothers and sisters in Orlando.”

FACT 2: Correct, guns didn’t wake up to kill our brothers and sisters in Orlando, but the lunatic Omar Mateen used one to do just that!  Unless it’s only an issue when a so-called “Muslim” does the killing?  When others kill with these guns that “didn’t wake up,” it’s probably not such a big issue for Ms. Gesiotto because such lives weren’t taken by “radical islamic terrorism” proponents.

She continued,

“As a nation, we need to acknowledge exactly what the problem is in order to discredit the ideology behind this problem.”

I agree, the ideologies of ISIS and right wing hate mongers are the same; divisive, counter-productive, asinine, disingenuous, fear-mongering, to name just a few characteristics in which we can identify what’s behind “this problem.”

How can we possibly put an end to these attacks when you refuse to name and define the enemy?

We all know who the enemies are (Daesh, extremists who are hell-bent on corruption, destruction, hate, etc).  It’s definitely not the billions of Muslims who practice their Islamic faith in peace, respect, and tolerance.  Unfortunately, it’s people like you and Donald Trump who are continuing to marginalize the Muslims worldwide, playing right into the hands of the extremists and terrorists by using interchangeably the terms “radical Islam” and “Islam” in the same sentence or context too often.  Perhaps that’s the objective?

Perhaps Ms. Gesiotto could use a daily dose of the islamophobin chewing gum.
