Four students (Emira Mahrin, Moaz Irfan, Asma Rahman and Selina Begum) made the long trip to the outskirts of Windsor on the afternoon of Saturday 11th November to participate in the Eton Autumn Invitational.

Despite facing stiff opposition from multiple independent boarding schools, Selina sailed through to the finals of the persuasive speaking contest. Both teams performed well in the debating rounds, with Moaz in particular scoring highly with a 16/20 in the second debate.

Selina, selected as one of the top six speakers in the competition on the basis of her persuasive speech and her debate performance, claimed the overall title of best individual speaker. Her fantastic achievement is no doubt a precedent for further NCS debating successes in the coming year!

Update (25/11/17) – We’ve added a link to a double page spread in today’s Daily Mail on Selina’s achievement and The NCS as well as the story being discussed in this morning’s BBC Breakfast Paper Review.
