Philosophy of Jihad in Islam

JIHAD is not war. Jihad is an Arabic word, the root word of Jihad is ‘juhd’ which means effort or struggle . Islam teaches the lesson of monotheism and oneness of Creator. The concept of jihad has been hijacked by many political and religious groups and especially the West over the ages to justify various forms of violence. Jihad is the struggle to please Allah. At the individual level, jihad principally denotes to the internal fight of being a person of quality and submission to God in all aspects of life. The misconception created and propagated by the West have mislead the world that jihad advocate viciousness and the assassination of innocent people. It is needed to understand, with clear Quranic proof, that the “cause of God” does not agree criminal killing or ferocity.
