Jami Masjid Giveaway formerly known as Queen of Peace
When the Muslims saw there was a surplus of people who liked to give things to the masjid, such as furniture, clothing, toys, appliances and much more, they decided to provide it to the entire community.
Everyone in the community was invited to come and take whatever they needed.
“…it’s not about money, it’s about giving things to people that need them and the people that lives in this neighborhood can’t necessarily afford to get the things they need and it’s important to make sure that we are able to provide for them as it’s one of our responsibilities as Muslims…” said Myles Carter of Buffalo NOMADS.
As Lieutenant Nichols of the Buffalo Police Department said, “the point is to see people in a different light and have people see us in a different light, not just responding to a crime. We are taking the time now to get to know people and to let people know there’s a human side…”
